The Most Important Vitamins for Healthy Hair

Have you ever stopped to consider that your hair can tell yourself and others a whole lot about your health? Healthy, gorgeous locks are often a reflection of optimal health. Dry, frizzy hair, on the other hand, reveals that a person is in marginal or poor health.
Our hair goes through a lot these days, from colorings and dyes to different toxins to heat, wind, and sun. What we put into our mouths also plays a huge role in just how beautiful our hair is going to be. In order to have beautiful healthy hair, you also need to have a good nutrition plan, which all begins with taking a daily multivitamin. These vitamins contain a number of vitamins and minerals that are necessary if we want to have beautiful hair, such as:
Fatty Acids: The omega-3 fatty acids play a huge role in whether or not you have nourished hair. You can also up your intake of omega-3’s by eating walnuts, canola oil, salmon, and soy products.
Vitamin B: vitamin B is perhaps the very most important of the vitamins to be taking to ensure that you have good hair. If you already have generally good health but your hair seems to still be lacking, consider taking a vitamin B supplement. Vitamin B12 (which can also be found in meats, eggs and poultry products) is also known as Cobalamin, and it has been found that people with a Vitamin B12 deficiency will lose their hair as a result.
The other most important of the B vitamins is vitamin B6 and vitamin B7 (also known as “biotin”). Biotin is an essential part of the hair production and hair growth process. It also plays a major role in the formation of healthy skin and nails, so by ensuring that you are getting enough vitamin B in your diet or by taking a multivitamin you are ensuring that all exterior appearances are being kept in tip top shape.
Vitamin C and Vitamin E: These two vitamins are important nutrients when it comes to having strong, glossy hair. Vitamin C is important as not only does it support a health immune system (which in turn supports healthy hair), but it also helps improve scalp circulation. Having a regular flow of healthy blood to the hair follicles is important so that the hair follicles are receiving the nutrients they need to thrive.
Vitamin E helps increase our oxygen uptake, which again helps improve the amount of blood that is circulating to our scalp. Just as with vitamin C, vitamin E supports a very healthy immune system. It is even thought to stimulate hair growth as well, so if you have thinning hair or have found it falling out more than usual lately, try taking a vitamin E and vitamin C supplement.
All of these vitamins, when taken regularly will ensure that the vitamins, minerals, and the amino acids that are necessary to create healthy keratin (a protein that is involved in creating healthy hair) are present and working with one another to help give you a healthy full head of hair.
